The city of Richmond plans to open Fire Station 2 at 3643 Williams Way Blvd. by early 2018, according to Chief Mike Youngblood. With the growth of Fort Bend County, the area around the intersection is expected to encounter more residential and commercial growth, he said. The primary reason Richmond’s strategic plan includes the placement of a station in this area is to help meet the growing area’s needs.

The location for Fire Station 2, which is temporarily housed at the Fort Bend County road and bridge facility, was chosen to provide access to main thoroughfares that would allow for quick response to all areas of the fire department’s response districts, Youngblood said.

The new station, which will house three firefighters and a fire engine, will cover the areas on either side of the Hwy. 59 corridor. The fire department covers roughly 60 square miles, some areas are contracted through subdivisions outside of city limits.
