FishFlops Madison Nicole Robinson was inspired by her love for the beach when she created her FishFlops line.[/caption] For the past eight years, Madison Nicole Robinson has worked to launch a successful line of shoes and strengthen her FishFlops brand, all while attending school as a Cy-Fair ISD student. The 17-year-old entrepreneur was born on Galveston Island and spent time going fishing, swimming and beach combing with her family, which led to the inspiration for her brand. When she was 8, Robinson sketched out a pair of flip-flops and added a sea creature to it, which led to her coining the name FishFlops. Although the process of refining the product and bringing the line to the public took several years, FishFlops are now sold online on Robinson's website, www.fishflops.com. FishFlops are available for women and children in a variety of colors and styles, and Robinson will feature new spring and fall collections every year. "Now that I am older, I have a more active role in the management of the business and have a better understanding of all aspects of the business," Robinson said. "This entire process has shaped my thoughts on ways to expand the brands." Creating a new design for FishFlops can take between six to nine months. Robinson uses her sketches to make samples for trade shows, and after she receives orders they are placed with a factory overseas. "After the FishFlops are made, they are placed in a container and ship by ocean freight to the U.S.," Robinson said. Robinson also plans to launch the Madison Nicole line in 2016, featuring flats, sandals, wedges, high heels and riding boots. "As I get older, I want to design for people my age," she said. Robinson has donated her time and shoes to various causes, including Shoes for Orphan Souls, Texas Children's Hospital, Cy-Hope and the American Heart Association. "I believe that giving back from the beginning is important, to give your time to worthy causes that you feel passionate about," Robinson said. 2 new lines annually 6–9 months to complete one shoe Where to find them: www.fishflops.com What's available: FishFlops carries uniquely designed shoes for women and children.
