As the Houston-Galveston area continues to prepare for Hurricane Laura, the National Weather Service Houston has placed Brazoria County under Tropical Storm Warning.
The city of Pearland is staffing its Emergency Operations Center at 8 p.m. to begin preparing for the storm, according to a tweet from the city.
As the storms are developing, the Incident Management Team has been making preparations. With the threat of hurricane Laura a decision has been made to activate Emergency Operations starting at 8p.m. this evening, Tuesday, August 25th.

County Judge Matt Sebesta issued a voluntary evacuation for coastal parts of the county outside the protection levee, according to a press release from the county. The county also closed the county beaches due to storm surge.
Sebesta signed a disaster declaration Aug. 24 in anticipation of the storm.
