The City of Pearland approved design contracts last week to begin addressing two pain points in the city — Mykawa Road and the Hwy. 288 frontage lanes at Broadway.

Mykawa Road widening: The City of Pearland has authorized a $3 million design contract for widening Mykawa Road from Beltway 8 to FM 518. The project will upgrade Mykawato a four-lane divided roadway with underground drainage, raised medians and sidewalks. TxDOT is managing the construction of this project, with bidding scheduled for August 2020.

Hwy. 288 frontage lanes: The City of Pearland has authorized a design contract not to exceed $450,000 for the frontage roads of Hwy. 288 at FM 518, a project originally slated for 2025 that is being expedited by city staff. The Pearland Economic Development Corporation has agreed to fund the design contract with an additional $450,000. The city is developing an agreement with Brazoria County to split the cost of the construction.
