The National Council for Home Safety and Security announced the rankings of Safest Cities in Texas for 2018 and Friendswood ranked as the eighth-safest city in the state.
The rankings were based on the number of reported violent crimes and property crimes per 1,000 people, with violent crimes weighed more heavily than property crimes.
Violent crimes include aggravated assault, murder, rape and robbery. Property crimes include burglary, arson, larceny-theft and motor vehicle theft.
The study eliminated any cities that failed to submit a complete crime report to the FBI and removed cities with populations under 10,000.
Here are the 10 safest cities in Texas, according to the NCHSS:
- Colleyville
- Keller
- Highland Village
- Trophy Club
- Murphy
- Horizon City
- Hutto
- Friendswood
- Flower Mound
