Ongoing Projects


1. The city of Friendswood broke ground in January on its Winding Road reconstruction project between Riverside Court and Melody Lane, and expects to reach completion near the end of April. The reconstruction project will replace 2,133 feet of residential roadway and will be funded through bond proceeds. Voters approved a $24 million bond referendum in 2013, which included about $7.7 million for road repairs, according to the city.

2. The city of Pearland has begun construction on a second left-turn lane heading southbound on Pearland Parkway at FM 518 in March. Bidding on the project closed Jan. 26, and the City Council awarded the $235,180 contract to WadCon LLC at its Feb. 27 meeting.

3. Beginning in May, contractors will reconstruct Orange Street, widen the road from 25 to 33 feet and put in new concrete curbs, gutters, sidewalks and improved drainage between Hwy. 35 and Schleider Drive in Pearland.

4. Max Road expansion

The project will expand Max Road in Pearland to a four-lane boulevard. Other improvements include storm sewers, outfalls and detention, a traffic signal at the intersection with Hughes Ranch Road and a bridge over Hickory Slough. A 10-foot multi-use path will tie the west side of the roadway into the trails master plan. Design engineering was completed in November, and a call for construction bids went out in March.
Timeline: June 2017-September 2018
