Summer Moon Coffee is expecting to open in Friendswood in early 2021. This will be the second Houston location for the Austin-based business.

The coffee shop is known for two things: its wood-fired coffee beans and its Moon Milk, owner Andrea Baragas said.

Baragas learned about Summer Moon Coffee when she was living in Austin. When she learned she was moving back to her hometown, Friendswood, she wanted Summer Moon Coffee to open a location there. She ended up becoming one of the first franchisees of the business. Summer Moon Coffee, located in Virgata Commons at 1765 S. Friendswood Drive, Ste. 101, is slated to open in January.

Though Summer Moon has been around for nearly 20 years, it is relatively new to the Houston area. Because of the community support, Friendswood is the perfect place to introduce a Summer Moon location, Baragas said.

“Summer Moon is a new name, so I felt like it needed a community to rally behind it,” she said.

Summer Moon Coffee will have a kids area with a book shelf and a larger table for meetings as well as tables and a bar in its 1,850-square-foot space. The business will sell teas as well as coffees.
