What we reported:
Friendswood Trails, a new master-planned community, will offer homes, amenities, parks, trails and ponds, as well as some commercial space. Construction on infrastructure and streets began in August on the new development, which is located on the old Sunmeadow golf course. The builder for the community is Perry Homes, and the homes will range in price from $300,000-$600,000.

The latest:
Hurricane Harvey delayed the development by around two weeks. The development is currently under construction, with infrastructure and lots to be finished in the end of February or end of March. The development will hold 130 single family lots. The total buildout value of the residential area will be roughly $55 million in new value.

What’s next:
Homes will be available starting in summer 2018. The development will reach buildout in 2020. Once the homes are completed, Parke Patterson, owner of Sugar Land-based Parke Patterson Land Development, expects the development to generate more interest from commercial businesses. The developer will also begin planning a park area once homes are completed. The parks area will be a collaboration with the residents and the city of Friendswood.
