The Bay Area Regional Medical Center in Webster is sporting bright pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month this October. In order to raise awareness for the disease, which is the leading form of cancer for women in the U.S., BARMC has changed its night time lights to pink, officials said in a press release. As part of the effort, the BARMC also offers top-of-the-line 3D technology including digital breast tomosynthesis—also known as 3D mammography—which could improve early detection of breast cancer, according to the press release. "At Bay Area Regional Medical Center, our goal is to provide exceptional care while making a difference in people’s lives,” Tim Schmidt, CEO of Bay Area Regional, said in the release. “We will continue to meet the needs of the Houston Bay Area community by providing quality mammography services with a caring staff and spa-like atmosphere." The BARMC also offers bone density screenings and breast ultrasound in addition to the screening and diagnostic mammography services.
