Friendswood ISD will host a COVID-19 vaccination event Sept. 22 for those seeking their first dose.

The event, which is in partnership with the University of Texas Medical Branch, will take place at Friendswood High School and Friendswood Junior High School. It is open to all students ages 12 and older as well as FISD teachers, administrators and staff, according to the district's news release.

Students under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian’s permission. This is the school district’s third vaccination event since the start of the pandemic, having previously had a turnout of more than 200 people at the first two, according to Dayna Owen, FISD's executive director of communications, via email.

“We want to make sure we are giving people in our community every opportunity to get the vaccination if they want it,” Owen said.

FHS will host the event in its library from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., and FJHS will host the event in the Trailblazer room from 2:30-4 p.m., according to the release. FHS is located at 702 Greenbriar Drive, Friendswood, while FJHS is located at 1000 Manison Parkway, Friendswood.
