The filing period to appear on the ballot for Friendswood City Council opens Jan. 15, according to a notice from the city.

On May 3, the city of Friendswood will hold a general election, including ballot items to elect candidates for Friendswood City Council positions 4 and 6.

What you need to know

On Jan. 6, Friendswood City Council unanimously approved an ordinance to hold the general election on May 3.

City Council positions 4 and 6 are currently held by Robert J. Griffon and Brent Erenwert, respectively.


Griffon was first elected in 2018 and Erenwet was elected in 2019. Both Griffon and Erenwert were elected again in 2022 for their respective terms, which end in May.

What else?

Those interested in running for either position can apply starting Jan. 15 and the last day to file is Feb. 14.
