The city of Friendswood will increase property taxes in the fiscal year 2024-25, resulting in a $116 increase in the average property tax bill.

On Sept. 9, Friendswood City Council voted to approve a tax rate of $0.514172 per $100 valuation, which is a 2.68% increase from the FY 2023-24 tax rate.

This rate will create $27.7 million in revenue, Chief Financial Officer Rhonda Bloskas said. As part of that, city documents show the tax bill on the average homestead will be $1,813.09.

The city’s adopted rate falls between the no-new-revenue rate of $0.495117 and the 2023 voter-approved rate of $0.552283, according to a city staff presentation.





Council member Robert J. Griffon was the only member of council to vote against adopting the tax rate. Griffon did not comment on his decision to vote against approving the tax rate at the Sept. 9 meeting.

The budget was adopted at the Sept. 9 meeting, and the city’s fiscal year begins Oct. 1, according to the city’s website.
