The Friendswood Volunteer Fire Department will host an open house where the public can meet first responders and learn more about what the fire department does for the community.

On Oct. 13, the Friendswood Volunteer Fire Department will host an open house at Centennial Park, 2200 S. Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, according to a social media post from the department.

Open house activities will include:
  • Food trucks
  • Interactive kids obstacle course
  • Car fire and vehicle extrication demonstration
  • Photo ops with fire trucks, ladder trucks, rescue boats, ambulances and a medical helicopter

Community Impact previously reported that as Friendswood has grown, the city’s demand for more first responders has increased. Between 2013 and 2018, annual emergency medical services calls increased by 250 total calls.
