On Feb. 8, Pearland's business and civic leaders met with community members at the First Church of Pearland for the city’s annual State of the City luncheon.
In March 2023, City Council voted unanimously to affirm six strategic priorities, which were:
- Trusted government
- Strong economy
- Safe community
- Sustainable infrastructure
- Resilient finances
- Whole community
Some of the specific initiatives detailed within the city's proposed strategic priorities include executing projects approved in the 2023 bond election, improving the city's flooding infrastructure and providing more resources to Pearland's police and fire departments, according to the city's website.

“Our presentation today is about our strategic priorities and how they interact with the everyday business of our city; how it interacts with you and your business, and as a homeowner; and ultimately what happens with our budget,” Mayor Kevin Cole said.

On Feb. 24, Pearland City Council will attend a retreat to discuss how to best execute the strategic priorities over the coming years.
