Friendswood Arbor Day tree giveaway

Keep Friendswood Beautiful will sponsor a Jan. 20 tree giveaway for residents at Centennial Park, according to the city of Friendswood’s website. Friendswood residents can pick up free 7-gallon live oak, red oak, red maple and lacebark elm trees. Participants must bring a photo ID to confirm residency.45 / 53 Mile Pearland Cycling Ride

The Houston-Area Aids/LifeCycle will host a 45-mile cycling ride to prepare participants for the annual AIDS/LifeCycle seven-day race that tracks 545 miles along the California coast, according to Aids/LifeCycle. The Pearland ride will begin at the Shadow Creek Ranch Sports Complex and will take riders 45 miles into Iowa Colony, Manvel and Rosharon.2024 Pearland Lunar New Year Festival

The Pearland Chinese Association will host the 2024 Pearland Lunar New Year Festival on Feb. 24 at the Pearland Recreation Center, according to Eventbrite. Attendees can explore exhibit tables featuring traditional Asian culture, arts, crafts and merchandise while participating in activities. Food will also be offered.Pearland Half Marathon


The sixth annual Pearland Half Marathon, which also includes 10K, 5K and KidsK races, will take place Feb. 25, according to the organizer’s website. Each course will begin in Independence Park in Pearland. Those interested in volunteering can do so at www.runpearland.com.
