The Pearland and Friendswood area has seen substantial growth in recent years, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2022 American Community Survey 5-Year Estimates.

The city of Pearland added 11,129 residents, or 9.8%, between 2017 and 2022, outpacing population growth in neighboring Friendswood, which saw an increase of 2,077 residents, or 5.4%.

As Pearland’s population continues to climb, the city is thinking critically about how it will develop the remaining undeveloped land within its boundaries, which sits close to 24%.
