After a monthslong search, Manvel has a new city manager: Dan Johnson.

The gist

On Nov. 13, Manvel City Council voted unanimously to appoint Dan Johnson to become city manager.

The announcement followed city officials’ extensive monthslong search, which was narrowed down to three finalists in October. Throughout the month, each of the three finalists had the opportunity to interview with both City Council and city staff.

As city manager, Johnson will oversee the day-to-day operations, strategic planning and implementation of policies to further enhance the quality of life for all Manvel residents, according to a news release.

Johnson had served as the interim city manager of Manvel since June. During that time, the city held its first-ever budget town hall and conducted its first-ever citizen survey.

Johnson’s career with the city of Manvel began in 2008 when he first served as the city’s consulting engineer.

Quote of note

"I am honored and excited to continue my service to the city of Manvel in this new capacity," Dan Johnson said in the release. "I have dedicated over 15 years of my professional career to this community, and I'm committed to its continued growth and success."
