The Texas Windstorm Insurance Association has appointed Representative Ed Thompson to its oversight board. The board consists of four Texas state representatives and four state senators.

"I am excited to start taking a hard look at TWIA's funding, discussing ways in which we can make this program better for those who live along the Texas coast, and making meaningful changes,” Rep. Thompson said in a press release.

The TWIA Oversight Board’s responsibilities include collecting information about the organization’s funding, looking at how other states operate catastrophic risk pools and holding public meetings to hear testimony on funding for TWIA.

“I know how important this issue is to those living in Brazoria County and I am eager to hear from constituents about how we can ensure TWIA is best serving them," Rep. Thompson said in the same press release.

TWIA provides windstorm and hail insurance to 14 Texas gulf coast counties and a portion of Harris County, according to its website.
