Kevin Cole has announced his campaign for the 2020 Pearland mayoral race. This announcement comes on the heels of longstanding Mayor Tom Reid announcing he will retire when his term ends in 2020.

Cole is a local business owner and previously served as a Pearland Council Member, according to a press release sent out by his campaign Dec. 16. According to the release, Cole, one of the founders of the Greater 288 Partnership, said one of the biggest problems Pearland residents face is mobility.

"We are a growing city and that has put a strain on our ability to move around town. I can bring my experience and a plan to address these concerns," Cole said in the release.

According to the press release, other priorities for Cole include mitigating drainage, diversifying the city tax base and keeping Tom Reid on as an ambassador for Pearland.

"I would want to keep Mayor Reid in a position to continue to serve the community as an ambassador for our great city," Cole said in a press release.
