What we reported Over 1,000 homes and 30 businesses flooded in Pearland during Hurricane Harvey in late August. The city also offered buyouts for residents whose homes have flooded more than once.
The latest The city of Pearland has a page on its website regarding flood mitigation and the city’s buyout program. For residents who have been affected, the city also offers no-fee permits for rebuilding their home.
What’s next The city of Pearland is working with the Brazoria County Drainage District No. 4 to put together a master drainage plan. This plan will look at the creeks, bayous and tributaries and see what improvements in flood mitigation can be made. Pearland will also look at development standards to ensure that they are constantly improved, officials said.
