After a week of early voting, Brazoria County has seen nearly 90,000 people turn out in person or send ballots in via mail, according to voter data from the county.

By the numbers

Brazoria County in the first week has seen a higher turnout in 2024 compared to the same timeframe in both 2020 and 2016, according to data.

While 2020 had more than 77,000 voters in the first week of early voting—and 2016 had roughly 64,000—2024’s total for one week is 89,810.

In 2020, 155,626 ballots were cast overall, which amounted to a voter turnout rate of 68.61%, according to historical election data. The U.S. overall had a voter turnout rate of 66.8%, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.


Of the 11 polling locations, Pearland East was the busiest with 15,487 votes through Oct. 27, according to county data. Shadow Creek was next with 11,116, which was followed by Pearland West, Alvin and Lake Jackson. All of those locations had more than 10,000 votes cast.

What’s next?

Election Day is Nov. 5, but voters can cast their ballots early through Nov. 1. Polls are open in Brazoria County from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. from Oct. 28 to Nov. 1, according to Brazoria County’s website.
