With 10 of 24 precincts reporting as of 7 p.m., unofficial election results show Jay Burridge ahead of David Thacker in the Republican primary runoff race for Precinct 1 of the Brazoria County Commissioners Court.

What you need to know

Early results show Burridge with 1,362 votes, or 63.5% of the vote total, to Thacker's 783 votes, or 36.5% of the vote total, according to unofficial election results from Brazoria County.

Precinct 1 covers the southeast portion of the county and runs up to parts of Alvin, according to maps from Brazoria County.

How we got here

In March, Thacker and Burridge were the top vote-getters in the original primary race for the seat. Mike Meadors and Ted Broaddus were also on the ballot.

However, since none of the candidates received more than 50% of the total vote, a runoff was triggered.

In a Q&A submitted to Community Impact in January, Thacker said he wanted to advocate for Brazoria County employees, while Burridge said he wanted tax relief, transparency and term limits.

All results are unofficial until canvassed.
