Niki Rhodes has won the race for Friendswood ISD trustee position 2, while two propositions for the school district have passed, according to Galveston County unofficial voting results.

With 46 of 46 voting centers reporting, Rhodes wins the race with 6,928 votes, a little over 53% of the vote, with opponents Kurt Jones and Rene DeLaFuente trailing with 3,666 votes and 2,381 votes, respectively.

Results for two Friendswood ISD propositions have also solidified.

Proposition A was approved by voters with 8,093 votes, with 7,454 against, which sought bond approval totaling funds up to $127.275 million for the construction and acquisition of school buildings, buses and renovations, now has 7,602 votes in favor and 7,061 against. Proposition B passed with a narrower margin, with 8,017 votes for and 7,423 against, which asked voters to approve bonds up to $1 million for the district’s technology updates, now has 7,572 votes in favor and 6,996 votes against.


Results are updated as of 11:27 a.m. and are unofficial until they are canvassed and certified by the county clerk. Under Texas election law, the clerk accepts and counts mail-in ballots postmarked by Election Day and received by Nov. 4, if they were sent from inside the U.S., or Nov. 9 if they were sent from outside the U.S.

Niki Rhodes maintains a commanding lead in the race for Friendswood ISD trustee position 2 as two propositions up for vote now favor approval.


With 18 out of 46 voting centers reporting, Rhodes has maintained her lead with 6,578 votes, while Kurt Jones and Rene DeLaFuente trail with 3,425 and 2,254 votes, respectively. This is out of 12,257 ballots counted so far.

However, two Friendswood ISD propositions have seen a slight development.

Proposition A, which is seeking bond approval totaling funds up to $127.275 million for the construction and acquisition of school buildings, buses and renovations, now has 7,602 votes in favor and 7,061 against. Proposition B, which is asking voters to approve bonds up to $1 million for the district’s technology updates, now has 7,572 votes in favor and 6,996 votes against.

With early-voting results coming in for Galveston County, Niki Rhodes has pulled ahead early on in the race for Friendswood ISD Position 2 with 6,570 votes, while Kurt Jones and Rene DeLaFuente trail with 3,419 and 2,253 votes, respectively. This is out of 12,242 ballots counted so far.

The vote on two Friendswood ISD propositions, meanwhile, looks far closer.

The first proposition, which has 7,588 voting for and 7,054 voting against, is seeking bond approval totaling funds up to $127.275 million for the construction and acquisition of school buildings, buses and renovations. The second proposition, with 7,561 voters for and 6,986 against, meanwhile, is asking voters to approve bonds up to $1 million for the district’s technology updates.
