Parents and guardians of incoming kindergarten students will be able to apply to Pearland ISD’s dual language program for the 2025-26 school year through a lottery application in late March, according to a social media post from the district.

What you need to know

PISD’s dual language program is for kindergarten through sixth grade, in which English- and Spanish-speaking students receive 50% of instruction in English and 50% in Spanish, according to the district’s website.

The dual language program has 22 English-proficient slots at the following four elementary schools:
  • Carleston Elementary School
  • Cockrell Elementary School
  • Lawhon Elementary School
  • Magnolia Elementary School
To be considered for the dual language programs, parents must attend one of the following informational meetings before entering the lottery, which will be held at the Virgil Gant Education Center at 1928 N. Main St., Pearland:
  • March 27, 8:30 a.m. or 6 p.m.
  • April 10, 6 p.m.
Parents must fill out an application to express interest in joining the dual language program, which will open March 31. The deadline to complete the application is April 25, according to the district’s website.

What else?

After the deadline, PISD will have the following timeline for the program:
  • May 2: PISD will conduct a lottery for available English proficient slots.
  • May 5-7: Parents will receive notification of the lottery results and wait list placement, if applicable.
  • May 13: Deadline to accept or decline invitation
    • The dual-language parent contract must be signed and returned to secure student placement.
  • May 14: Parents of students on the waiting list will be notified if seats become available.
One last thing

Children of PISD employees and PISD families with siblings currently enrolled in the dual language program will be provided with automatic placement in the program if desired, but both groups are required to attend at least one informational meeting, the district’s website notes.

Parents can learn more about the dual language program by visiting the district’s website.
