Alvin ISD’s board of trustees approved two construction contracts totaling nearly $2.9 million at its Feb. 11 meeting.

The contracts are to provide vestibule upgrades at eight schools, which are a part of the $380.1 million bond that passed in November, as previously reported by Community Impact.

The overview

The contracts were split in two packages of vestibule upgrades, according to agenda documents. They cover the following schools for vestibule upgrades:
  • Alvin Junior High
  • Brothers Elementary
  • Hood Case Elementary
  • Jeter Elementary
  • Marek Elementary
  • Passmore Elementary
  • Rise Academy
  • Sanchez Elementary
While it was not stated in agenda documents when construction would begin for the vestibule projects, officials noted the projects will potentially occur in three phases over summers 2025-27 in order to prevent disruptions during the academic school year, Community Impact previously reported.

Also of note

AISD’s board of trustees also approved a construction manager to handle the upcoming expansion and renovation projects at Alvin and Manvel high schools, both of which are also part of the district’s 2024 bond, documents show.

The renovations at the two high schools are expected to be the largest component of the district’s bond, totaling nearly $144 million, Community Impact previously reported. The pair of projects will also be among the last ones carried out in the bond’s cycle.
