FISD trustees renewed the district’s insurance premiums for a number of items, which, according to a proposal from the district presented at the meeting, includes:
  • Cyber loss and liability
  • General liability
  • Educator’s legal liability
  • Auto liability
  • Auto physical damage
The new insurance premium comes in at around $130,000 per year, which is nearly $12,000 less than last year, documents show. The district’s deductible for auto liability and auto physical damage will increase from $1,000 to $2,500 per occurrence.

FISD files around five claims per year on average that meet that deductible, documents show.

The district participates in the Property Casualty Alliance of Texas, which is a cooperative that provides insurance to more than 100 school districts in Texas and is aimed at backing districts that are more at risk, according to the district’s agenda.

The terms of the new premium will begin March 1, documents show.
