Pearland ISD students improved overall academically in 2024 compared to 2023 based on recent benchmark exam data.

The data was reviewed at the PISD board of trustees’ Jan. 14 meeting.

The overview

At the end of the fall semester, students participated in benchmark testing that allows teachers to track student progress and make necessary adjustments, according to district agenda documents.

For second through fourth grade, students excelled most in second-grade math. Benchmark data is determined by students who “met” or “mastered” grade level based on exam scores, district documents note.
For English, language arts and reading exams, students in fifth through eighth grade generally improved in 2024 compared to 2023, data shows.
Students also improved in math exams for fifth through eighth grade, especially in pre-AP courses.
For science and social studies, eighth grade had a slight decline in social studies exam scores, data shows.
For high school exams, biology and U.S. history exams had slightly decreased exam scores, data shows.
