What you need to know
The event will be open to the public from 6-8 p.m. on Oct. 2 at Harby Junior High and 6-8 p.m. on Oct. 30 at Shadow Creek High School, according to a Sept. 27 news release from the district.
The following topics will be addressed during the events:
- Active shooter statistical data
- Active shooter profiles
- Situational awareness development
- Effects of stress on performance and behavior
- Crisis management skills
- Avoid/deny/defend: strategies to keep you and your loved ones safe during an active shooter event
- Law enforcement’s role once they arrive and how to response to law enforcement once they arrive
- Stop the Bleed program, which is a nationwide training initiative by the American College of Surgeons to improve survival from natural and man-made mass casualty events, according to the American College of Surgeons’ website.
