Student safety in terms of technology could be some of the key additions in Alvin ISD’s newest handbook for the upcoming 2024-25 school year.

The district’s board of trustees will vote on the new handbook at its Aug. 13 meeting, according to agenda documents. Consideration of additional personnel for the district and a 2023-24 State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness presentation are also on the agenda.

What you need to know

A version of the 2024-25 student handbook for AISD has already been published in district agenda documents.

While a vast amount of policies have remained the same from the 2023-24 student handbook, the published handbook included new policies about student safety in regard to technology and their respective data, according to district documents.

Other technological clarifications involving plagiarism with unauthorized use of artificial intelligence, or AI, are included, according to district documents.

What else?

The 2024-25 student handbook also has a policy regarding student identification.

The 2024-25 handbook said all students from pre-K to 12th grade will receive an identification card for the current academic year and will be required to wear their student ID card while on campus, attending any AISD-sponsored function or riding in any AISD vehicle, including buses.

Student ID cards include a student’s name, campus assignment, academic year, grade and student ID number, according to district documents.

Also on the agenda

Trustees will also consider additional personnel employment, and review and discuss 2023-24 STAAR results, according to district documents.
