Friendswood ISD Superintendent Thad Roher will have another three years as head of the district after the board of trustees approved a new contract for him at its July 22 workshop.

The overview

The contract will run from Aug. 1 through July 31, 2027, according to district agenda documents.

Roher will earn an annual salary of over $228,300 for the first year of his contract. This is an increase from his current salary, which is over $213,600, according to the Texas Education Agency.

The board will be allowed to adjust his salary at any time within the contract period, as long as it’s not below the set annual salary, documents show. The contract does give any specifics as to what his pay will be in the last two years of the contract.

What else?

Roher will have the following benefits:
  • Reimbursement on a per mile basis for business travel to destinations outside the district and outside of region 4, which is the region for all Houston-metro school districts
  • A 2-week requirement over the summer for vacation, or planning to rest and reflect on the upcoming school year
Roher must also reside within the district throughout his term, according to district documents.
