Alvin ISD’s board of trustees approved hiring five principals and six assistant principals throughout the district at its May 14 meeting.

What happened?

According to agenda documents, new principals will be serving at the following schools starting in the 2024-25 school year:
  • Walt Disney Elementary: Devin DeLaGarza, who is an assistant principal at Walt Disney Elementary and has 19 years of experience in education
  • Glenn York Elementary: Donielle Walters, who is the assistant principal at Meridiana Elementary in AISD and has 14 years of experience in education
  • Harby Junior High: Randy Teal, who is the assistant principal at Harby Junior High and has over 16 years of experience in education
  • Iowa Colony Junior High: Christy Kennard, who is an associate principal at Manvel High School in AISD and has over 13 years of experience in education
  • Rodeo Palms Junior High: Tony Taylor, who is an assistant principal at Shadow Creek High School in AISD and has over 15 years of experience in education

According to agenda documents, new assistant principals will be serving at the following schools starting in the 2024-25 school year:
  • Duke Elementary: Jason Juneau, who is a sixth grade teacher in Pasadena ISD and has nine years of experience in education
  • Marek Elementary: Keirstan Hairgove, who is a mathematics instructional coach at Hood-Case Elementary in AISD and has over eight years of experience in education
  • Passmore Elementary: Laura Lankford, who is a reading instructional coach at Mark Twain Elementary in AISD and has over 15 years of experience in education
  • Jackie Caffey Junior High: Shantel Octave, who is an instructional coach at Nolan Ryan Junior High in AISD and has over 12 years of experience in education
  • Iowa Colony High School: Crystal Tate, who is an assistant principal at Brazoswood High School in Brazosport ISD and has over 15 years of experience in education
  • Ronald McNair Junior High: Julianna Walker, who is an assistant principal at Hughes Road Elementary School in Dickinson ISD and has over 17 years of experience in education

AISD also hired Monisha Rosby, who is the assistant principal at Shadow Creek High School, as the new associate principal at Shadow Creek High School, and Mark McMahon, who is the assistant principal at Manvel High School, as the new associate principal at Manvel High School, according to the district’s May 16 social media post.
