The gist
The Stable, which is a student-run and -led merchandise shop, was relaunched in January and provides students a way to use creativity of design for products as well as gain marketing and business management experience, according to an October newsletter from the district.
The store was online and had a number of products available. Those items included T-shirts, sweaters, keychains, flags, hats and school supplies, according to the website. Students with the store stopped taking orders Nov. 15, but in the time it was open, it made $810.62, Chief Communications Officer Dayna Owen said.
In total, 76 T-shirts were sold, Owen said. Students will fulfill the orders by Dec. 4 and will have the shirts made through Pearland-based Inked Designs.
What else?
The store was part of a fundraiser with the Bay Area Alliance-FISD Cares, Owen said Nov. 10. The aim was to support families in need within the community.
For the FISD Cares initiative, students with the Stable presented three images to the Bay Area Alliance for this year’s new design, Owen said. The one chosen was a Christmas tree composed of running mustangs, which is the school’s mascot.
The design was created by Kara Sartain, a retail management student for the store, Owen said.
