DiscoverU helps Pearland students find unique skills for college, career

A former educator is bringing college and career coaching program DiscoverU to students in Pearland as of October 1.

The college and career coaching platform began as a podcast series that started in fall 2022, business owner Sonia Cacique said. Cacique said she has 18 years of experience in the education field and is also a certified school counselor.

Cacique offers both virtual and in-person sessions, doing home visits and meetups at libraries and other public locations in Pearland.

Cacique said she differs from other college and career coaches—who primarily focus on college applications, essays and financial aid—by centering her clients' individual gifts and skills.

“My main passion is self-awareness first and foremost,” Cacique said. “[We start with] who you are as a unique person and student, branch into career exploration, then dive into college preparedness.”
