Leaders from various Friendswood ISD schools will share their strategic plans during Sept. 11’s regular board meeting.

The big picture

According to agenda documents, Friendswood ISD officials have several goals for the district’s schools in its strategic plan. Among the goals are:
  • Developing a districtwide culture of community service
  • Redefining the measure of student success
  • Providing professional learning
  • Partnering with the community to teach real-world experiences
  • Allocating resources for facilities that promote authentic, real-world learning experiences
  • Engaging students in learning experiences beyond the classroom
  • Promoting strong character, emotional maturity and social wellbeing for students
A closer look

According to the documents, leaders from campuses and the district overall will present and share highlights from the district and individual campus strategic plans.

For instance, at Friendswood High School, certain students are required to complete 24 hours of community service a year to move toward the goal of developing a culture of community service, the documents read.
