While schools in Alvin ISD are growing—with the district adding more than 1,000 students in each of the past few years and expecting to add 1,000 more this year—enrollment numbers in Pearland ISD and Friendswood ISD are stagnating.
However, the story looks different for total teachers in each of the districts. While Pearland ISD has experienced a net decrease in teachers over the past few years, Friendswood ISD and Alvin ISD have grown their teaching staffs.
All three districts have also increased their base teacher pay dating back to the 2019-20 school year. Alvin ISD is up from $56,075 to $61,100 in that time, while Pearland ISD is up to $59,000 as of the 2022-23 school year, which is up from $56,000 in 2019-20. Rounding out the group is Friendswood ISD, which is up to $56,807 as of the 2022-23 school year.
In terms of student statistics, all three schools were under the state averages in several categories, including the percentage of economically disadvantaged students and students who are emergent bilingual. However, both Alvin ISD and Friendswood ISD had a higher percentage of special needs students compared to the state average.
