Friendswood ISD’s board of trustees at its July 17 meeting renewed Superintendent Thad Roher’s contract, which will go through 2026, according to the contract.

The gist

FISD renews its superintendent’s contract every year, adding one year to maintain a three-year contract, officials said July 17.

Roher will make a salary of about $213,642 this year, officials said. The contract called for the same salary as last year—$210,485—but was amended to include an additional 1.5% increase that was approved for all employees at the board’s July 17 meeting.

Roher will have the same number of personal days as other professional staff members in FISD, according to the contract.

He will also get a $3,600 vehicle stipend for the year for traveling within the district for work and be reimbursed for mileage when traveling outside the district for business, according to the contract. This is similar for other administrative employees in FISD.

Beyond the pay raise, the biggest difference in the new contract is Roher’s start date falling on Aug. 1, rather than the typical July 1 it has been in the past, officials said.

Looking back

Roher joined FISD in 2017 and replaced Trish Hanks, who headed the district for 15 years before Roher.

Before becoming superintendent, Roher worked in FISD dating back to 1999, Community Impact previously reported. Roher also graduated from Friendswood High School.
