Alvin ISD students will return to school Aug. 10, whereas transition students in pre-K, kindergarten, and sixth and ninth grades will return Aug. 9.
The scheduled breaks on the calendar are fall break from Oct. 16-20; Thanksgiving break from Nov. 20-24; winter break from Dec. 18 to Jan. 3, 2024; and spring break from March 11-15.
“The District Education Improvement Committee included a fall break in the 2023-24 draft calendar,after survey results from Alvin ISD campus staff were reviewed,” Alvin ISD Superintendent Carol Nelson stated in the release. “Over 2,100 campus staff responded to the survey with an overwhelming 84% of staff responding that they were interested in including the break in next year’s calendar.”
The calendar was drafted by the AISD District Education Improvement Committee, which collected a variety of data and input from parents and district staff members. Furthermore, the district held a survey for community feedback in November.
