Windsong Intermediate School passed Friendswood ISD’s second random intruder detection audit conducted by the state.

JT Patton, the district’s executive director of safety and operations, updated the FISD board of trustees on the audit during its Nov. 14 meeting. The audit took place Nov. 1 and was conducted by the Texas School Safety Center.

The audit, which consisted of exterior door checks to detect weak access points, resulted in no detections of any kind at Windsong Intermediate. During the unannounced audit, an undercover inspector checks the doors to see if an unauthorized person would be able to enter the building. Any door that is not locked must be attended by an adult.

Gov. Greg Abbott ordered the surprise inspections at schools across the state to ensure the security of educational facilities. The remaining four campuses in the district will be audited sometime before December 2023, Patton said.
