Students return to classes this week for the upcoming 2022-23 school year at Alvin, Friendswood and Pearland ISDs.

While the students will return to the hallways of each district’s respective campuses, teachers and staff have already been preparing for the new school year. Each respective district held large assembly ceremonies to welcome staff for the new year. AISD held its Aug. 10; FISD held its Aug. 9; and PISD held its Aug. 11.

Among the messages shared to staff included reinforcing positivity at FISD, which is one of the district’s goals for the new school year, according to an Aug. 11 district news release. At PISD, Superintendent Larry Berger addressed the district’s new staff.

Berger is entering his first full school year as the superintendent after being named to the position at the April 12 board meeting. According to a PISD news release, the district’s commissioned motto is “Build Pearland Proud.”

The first day of classes of students will be on Aug. 18 at AISD, Aug. 16 at FISD and Aug. 17 at PISD, according to each district’s respective calendar.
