The job promotions were announced at the May 9 board of trustees meeting by Superintendent Thad Roher. Lauren Ambeau, assistant superintendent of elementary teaching and learning, was promoted to deputy superintendent. Some of her new job duties include supervising elementary school principals and providing leadership at community and statewide events, according to agenda documents.
“Lauren has led us for the last several years through several tough things. I’m excited for her to step up to the role of deputy superintendent,” Roher said during the May 9 meeting.
Replacing Ambeau in her current role is Kim Cole, who serves as the executive director of secondary teaching and learning. Cole will also begin her new job responsibilities at the start of the 2022-23 school year. One of her new responsibilities includes overseeing the secondary principals. Cole was one of the main leaders behind FISD’S new GPA and class rank policies, as previously reported by Community Impact Newspaper.
“She’s done an outstanding job, [having] walked us through the process of GPA and class rank,” Roher said.
