“I am honored to serve as the new CTE director and, alongside my team, I believe in always putting our students at the forefront of our decisions,” Akin said in the news release. “This is what will continue to move us toward being a world-class district.”
As the career and technical education director, Akin will oversee and manage the district’s career and technology education program and is in charge of improving the career and technical education program by seeking business and higher education partnership opportunities for the district’s CTE students, according to the job description document provided to Community Impact Newspaper.
Akin has worked in education for 26 years and has spent 23 of them with PISD, according to the news release. He was previously the district’s CTE coordinator.
“I’m looking forward to working with the campuses and staff to support student success,” Akin said. We have a remarkable group of teachers that are knowledgeable, passionate and dedicated to their programs. I want our team to help bolster these programs, taking the best and making them even better. This continual improvement can only help our students achieve greater things.”
