Krystal Hawks, a University of Houston-Clear Lake alumna, received the Region IV Elementary School Principal of the Year for Alvin ISD award. She is the principal at Alvin ISD’s Shirley Dill Brothers Elementary, according to a press release from University of Houston-Clear Lake.

Hawks started as principal at Shirley Dill Brothers Elementary when the school opened in 2017.

Hawks has decided to get her doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from UHCL, as her master’s degree from the university has helped her as a principal, she said in a press release.

“I often draw back to what I learned in my master’s program,” she said in a release. “I learned so many things pertinent to being an administrator.”

Hawks hopes to become a superintendent someday, she said in the release.

“When you have a desire to impact more students learning and achieving on high levels, you begin to focus your career goals on becoming a superintendent. With all of the education, growth and experience I’m gaining in the field of education, this is a goal I look forward to pursuing.”
