Former Friendswood ISD board President Rebecca Hillenburg stepped down from her position Dec. 10. She will still serve on the board as secretary.
"It has been my privilege to serve as president of the school board for many years," Hillenburg said.
Hillenburg chose to step down after acting as president for 11 years. She is replaced by Tony Hopkins, who had previously served as the board's vice president.
"You are the only president I have dealt with on the board, but it has been a pleasure, and you're just a rock that we have always had of leadership," trustee Robert McCabe said.
David Montz, former board secretary, replaced Hopkins as vice president.
