Interim incumbent Denise Ruiz will remain on the Friendswood ISD board of trustees after winning the race for Position 2 with 5,185 out of 9,095 votes on Tuesday.
"I am extremely thankful for the huge outpouring of support from the community. It is very reassuring to know voters value the tradition of excellence in our school district," Ruiz said. "I look forward to continuing my work with the board and our forward vision for FISD."
She will finish the remaining two years of a four-year term that opened up when former trustee Matt Robinson resigned to run for State Board of Education for District 7, which he won on Tuesday.
Her opponent was Dr. Dakota Carter.
