Here are the dates Alvin ISD students will have off from school in 2018-2019


The Alvin ISD board of trustees approved the student calendar for the 2018-2019 school year during the January board meeting.

The 2018-2019 school year will begin on Aug. 16 and will end on May 24. Here are the important dates to know:

Aug. 16 – School starts
Sept. 3 – Labor Day holiday
Oct. 12 – Staff collaboration day, no school
Oct. 15 – No school
Nov. 19-23 – Thanksgiving holiday
Dec. 20 – Early dismissal
Dec. 24-Jan 4 – Christmas holiday
Jan. 21 – Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday
Feb. 15 – Staff collaboration day, no school
Feb. 18 – President’s Day holiday
March 11-15 – Spring Break
April 19-22 – Easter holiday
May 24 – last day of school, early dismissal day

The schedule shows students enrolled for 173 days of the year for 77,390 minutes total for high school students, 76,495 minutes for junior high students and 76,515 minutes for elementary students. This schedule allows for extra minutes in case of bad weather.
