The Friendswood ISD school board discussed an update on the boundary committee process at its meeting Monday, Feb. 12. The committee has held four meetings, and priorities on boundary changes have been discussed.
The boundary changes would affect Cline and Westwood elementaries and Windsong and Bales intermediates.
The committee has proposed Zoning Option 1C for the board's consideration.
The proposed map is on the Friendswood ISD website.
The information was presented by Stacy Daugherty, executive director of student operations and chairperson of the boundary committee.
Recommendations from the committee included the need for a transition plan for students, parents and staff who will be moving from one school to another.
According to Daugherty, this includes allowing students to come to the new school before the summer break, as well as making sure the tone is welcoming. For parents, this includes communication via the website, letters, and social media.
The committee also discussed transportation, with a 40-minute commute being the maximum time parents prefer.
The final recommendation for boundary changes will go before the board at its special meeting on Feb. 26.
