The Friendswood ISD board of trustees approved the student calendar for the 2018-2019 school year during the January board meeting. The 2018-2019 school year will begin on Aug. 15 and will end on May 23. Here are important dates to know: Aug. 15 – School starts Sept. 3 – Labor Day holiday Sept. 24 – Professional development day, no school Oct. 22 – Professional development day, no school Nov. 16-23 – Thanksgiving holiday Dec. 21 – Early dismissal Dec. 24-Jan. 7 – Christmas holiday Jan. 21 – Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday Feb. 18 – Professional development day, no school March 11-15 – Spring Break April 19-22 – Easter holiday May 23 – last day of school, early dismissal day The schedule shows students enrolled for 173 days of year for 428 minutes a day, allowing for extra minutes in case of bad weather.
