After deciding not to seek re-election to the Pearland ISD board of trustees in May, Pam Boegler will return to fill the seat vacated by Virgil Gant. Gant died in an auto accident June 26 outside of Ozona, Texas.

The PISD school board unanimously appointed Boegler, who served as a trustee from 2010-May. Boegler is also a former vice president of the board.

“Because of her recent service, [Boegler] is already very familiar with current issues facing the district, and she’s always a champion for students and teachers,” board president Rebecca Decker said. “Her experience will be invaluable as we prepare for a potential bond election.”

Boegler will hold Position 3 until the next trustee election in May 2017. The Position 3-elect will serve the remainder of Gant’s original term, which expires in 2018.

Gant served 16 years on the PISD school board, including time as board president.
