Following Pearland City Council approval Sept. 26, the city in October will begin construction through contractor Durotech on a new police training facility, according to Pearland Communications Director Josh Lee.

The facility will be located at the old Fire Station No. 4 building at 8333 Freedom Drive, Pearland.

Construction is expected to last about 12 months, according to an executive summary on the project.

The new facility will include a 40-person training room, a break room area, a fitness area that will be shared with Fire Station No. 4 personnel and a workstation office area, according to the city’s webpage on the facility.

During the regular Sept. 26 City Council meeting, a change order was approved that set the guaranteed maximum price of construction at $4.78 million funded by certificates of obligation.
