The Friendswood ISD board of directors approved a nearly $170,000 renovation at an Oct. 10 meeting that will transform the FISD Annex cafeteria into a new boardroom.

Citing a need for more space, district officials presented a plan to the board of directors. The current boardroom is 1,287 square feet.

The new boardroom will be 3,534 square feet. Renovations to the cafeteria include new entry doors, carpeting and gypsum board walls.

Renovations will also be done in the hallway leading into the boardroom and restrooms. The project includes wireless internet access, a new sound system and electronic projection screens.

The project will be financed from $60,000 of remaining bond funds, the capital outlay budget line and reserve funds, according to district officials.
